Assistant Accountant
John Keells PLC was established in 1960 as a Tea and Rubber Broker. The company is a subsidiary of one of the largest conglomerates in Sri Lanka, the John Keells Group.
The company seeks an exceptional individual for the above role and invites applications from suitably qualified individuals.
Job Responsibilities
- Preparation of Annual Plans & Reforecast
- Optimize & manage the company working capital & foreign currency exposures
- Finalization of Monthly Accounts & Management Reporting within the timelines
- Independently liaise with IRD, Banks, Insurance & other external parties on official issues
- Ensure timely submission of tax returns & payments (WHT, IT, SVAT & VAT, etc)
- Adherence to group & company policies
- Independently finalize year end audit & prepare year end accounts
- Coordination with Internal & External Auditors
- Overlook the AP function
- Liaising with operations staff on day-to-day issues
Person Specifications
- Be partly or fully qualified in CIMA / ACCA / ICASL
- 3 – 4 years’ experience in a similar capacity with experience in handling audits, etc.
- Prior experience with a firm of Chartered Accountants would be preferred
- Comprehensive knowledge of financial principles
- Language proficiency – Both English & Sinhalese
- Excellent knowledge on MS Office
- Knowledge of SAP would be an added advantage
