The Department of Mathematics and Statistics of the Faculty of Science at York University invites highly qualified applicants for a professorial stream tenure-track appointment in Pure Mathematics at the Assistant Professor level, to commence July 1, 2023.

The Department views this position as a key step towards continuing to build York University into one of the top universities in Canada for pure mathematics in research reputation and in post-doctoral, graduate, and undergraduate training. Our vision is for pure mathematics to create a vibrant atmosphere among the students and the faculty while maintaining the highest standard in research productivity that will further raise the reputation and prestige of York University.

 

Candidate Qualifications:

 

Degree: PhD

 

Research/Practice Expertise:

 

o The successful candidate will be expected to engage in outstanding, innovative, and externally funded research at the highest level.

Candidates must show promise of research excellence of a recognized international caliber as demonstrated in the research statement; a record of publications (or forthcoming publications) in top-ranked and field-relevant journals; presentations at major conferences; awards and accolades; and strong recommendations from referees of high standing.

 

 

 

Teaching:

 

o Promise of excellence in teaching, as evident in: the teaching statement; teaching accomplishments and pedagogical innovations (e.g., high priority areas such as experiential education and technology enhanced learning); strong letters of reference.
o The position will involve graduate teaching and supervision, as well as undergraduate teaching and the successful candidate must be suitable for prompt appointment to the Faculty of Graduate Studies.
