The Department of Mathematics and Statistics at the University of New Brunswick Saint John invites applications for a tenure-track position in Statistics, at the rank of Assistant Professor, to start July 1, 2023. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. This position is subject to budgetary approval.

 

The successful candidate will have a PhD in Statistics (or be near completion), a proven record of high-quality independent research, as well as demonstrated or strong promise for excellence in teaching. They are to present a research plan that has potential for long-term external funding via Tri-Council grants and/or industry partnerships; to initiate an active research program; and to recruit/supervise students conducting research at undergraduate and graduate levels. Opportunities exist for research collaborations in different areas related to Coastal Studies and Health Sciences, which are areas of strength and strategic growth for the Campus. Candidates in all areas of statistics are encouraged to apply.

The Mathematics and Statistics Department consists of seven full-time faculty members. We offer Majors in Mathematics and in Statistics with a growth agenda in Data Science and maintain a graduate programme. UNB Saint John has a strong commitment to undergraduate teaching and training. This position includes teaching courses in the core of our Statistics program, developing and teaching new statistics courses at the senior undergraduate or graduate levels, and making academic service contributions.
