Get to know the Project

Island Climate Initiative (Pvt) Ltd. is looking for an intern to join our team which is running the “Island Plastics Challenge” project (IPC) to source alternatives/solutions to Plastic Packaging related challenges identified by Sri Lanka’s premier consumer goods companies. The IPC is funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) through their Clean Cities, Blue Ocean (CCBO) Program.

Get to know the Role

The ideal candidate will be self-motivated and passionate about sustainability. S/he will be a quick learner who is willing to take the initiative and support the IPC team in the overall implementation of the IPC including the solution showcase event. Previous experience in the innovation/start-up space and/or event management will be an added advantage.

 

 

The Day-to-Day Activities

 

  • Support the team in implementing the Island Plastics Challenge.
  • Be the first point of contact for potential applicants to the IPC received via email and telephone hotline.
  • Receive and respond to basic queries from potential applicants and direct them to the FAQ section of the IPC platform.
  • Receive and liaise with relevant IPC team members in responding to more complex queries regarding the IPC. This may include technical queries regarding the challenges, questions on the terms and conditions of participation in the IPC etc.
  • Collating and tracking applications received on the IPC platform
  • Be responsible for collating and keeping track of applications received.
  • Provide insights and suggestions to the team on driving outreach and increasing the number of applicants based on applications received.
  • Support the IPC team in organizing the solution showcase event
  • Work with the IPC team in the organization of the event by coordinating with multiple stakeholders.
  • Working with the IPC communications specialist in the end-to-end rollout, covering campaign strategy to execution, across channels.

  • Manage end-to-end execution of campaigns
  • Discerning between marketing channels and their effectiveness in a variety of use cases
  • Teamwork and project management across various stakeholders (creative, PR, marketing, business etc.)
  • Data tracking and reporting of initiatives

 

The Must-Haves

  • Available from January – May 2023
  • Fluency in speaking and writing in English
  • Proficient in the Microsoft Office suite
  • Willingness to learn to use various other digital tools
