The Revel development group is in search of a candidate to take on their Manager of Software Development role.

This group is focused on building an application which will enable instructors and educate students, providing them with a best-in-class experience. The group is looking for a candidate with a proven and focused track record on front end engineering technologies that can mentor, grow, and guide developers of all backgrounds, tackle the most challenging web issues, and recommend extensible yet scalable solutions. This candidate may engage with an offshore team and ensure delivery of all development-related tasks in a coordinated fashion.

What You Will Do

  • Manage one or more web development teams in an Agile environment

  • Run daily scrums to track development efforts to completion and release
  • Assist with challenging front end issues that require research of the latest web technologies
  • Work with junior developers to come up with the best, most forward-thinking, scalable, backwards-compatible solutions
  • Coordinate with project management, product management, and quality management to plan releases
  • Help with code design/architecture/refactoring
  • Meet with internal product team to keep alignment, set expectations, and advise on technical direction
  • Work with Product Manager in understanding the requirements and analyzing gaps (if any)
  • Participate in design and solution discussions
  • Provide developer support
  • Build a community within your team that fosters diversity, inclusion and collaboration
  • Support engineers in career development and growth
  • Enjoy working with people and providing mentoring and coaching to engineers
  • Handle and resolve interpersonal conflict well

Skills & Experience

Essential

  • Two years of management experience in an agile environment
  • Two years of software development experience
  • Experience with HTML 5, CSS 3, Web Services, UI development, rapid development of proofs of concepts, and architectural design
  • Experience with restful APIs
  • Excellent verbal and written communication

Desirable:

  • AWS/Cloud technologies
  • JavaScript (React) and/or Java API development
