POSITION DESCRIPTION
The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at the University of California, Santa Barbara invites applications of qualified Postdoctoral Scholar applicants to work closely with the PI Han and a consortium of collaborators in the fields of tau biology, neuro pathology and computational biology. The focus of the study will be on the elucidation of shape propagation in pathological tau protein aggregation by dipolar EPR and NMR spectroscopy.
The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry will be hiring one or two positions, depending on funding availability. The Screening of applicants is ongoing and will continue as needed. Positions are full-time.

QUALIFICATIONS
Basic qualifications (required at time of application)

  • Applicants must either have a PhD in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biophysics, Physics or related fields OR be enrolled in a PhD program at the time of application.
  • Additional qualifications (required at time of start)
  • A PhD in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biophysics, Physics or related fields is required by time of appointment.

Preferred qualifications

The expectation is that the prospective postdoctoral researcher has basic level experience and interest in protein biochemistry work, as well as experience with various biophysical techniques, ideally including structural biology tools that may include Cryo-EM, dipolar EPR or NMR spectroscopy.
