Chemical Engineering – TSI Solutions

A Research Fellow position is currently available in the Nanyang Environment & Water Research Institute to develop working prototypes of chemical reactors and catalyst formulations for pyrolysis gas utilization. The suitable candidate will become a part of a vibrant team addressing Singapore’s challenges in waste and resource management, and contribute to promote Singapore as a zero-waste circular economy smart city hub.

Job Responsibilities

  • Undertake full research work and administrative duties during the term of employment within the following areas: Design, engineering, and test-bedding of working prototypes of chemical reactors; Catalyst product formulation and testing; Improvement of processes for gas conversion into value-added products (e.g., syngas, hydrogen, carbon nanomaterials).

  • Prepare technical reports, research publications, and technology descriptions for intellectual property protection.

  • Prepare presentation decks for various audiences (scientific community, industry partners, government agencies, investors).

  • Identify potential customers for the developed technologies, refine technology features based on the customer feedback.

  • Supervise junior colleagues.

  • Good chemical engineering background, communication skills, initiative, creativity, and resourcefulness are essential to succeed.

Job Requirements

  • Ph.D. degree in Chemical Engineering, Or Ph.D. in a closely related field to Chemical Engineering and B.Sc. in Chemical Engineering.

  • Suitable Specializations: heterogeneous catalysis, chemical reaction engineering, process engineering.

  • Other related working experience: product development, building prototypes of chemical reactors, system scale-up, and catalyst manufacturing in the industrial setting.

  • Able to prepare well-written technical reports, research papers, and proposals in English.

  • Able to prepare a decent quality presentation deck.

  • Able to build formal and informal partnerships and work collaboratively with others to meet shared objectives.

  • Able to consistently achieve results, even under challenging circumstances.

  • Able to create new and better ways, advance technological progress and make the project successful.

  • Able to develop junior teammates to meet the project goals.
