Description
The Infrastructure Engineer we are looking for is the person in the Service Delivery Team with expert knowledge on infrastructure, operations, monitoring, deployment and automation. The Infrastructure Engineer works closely together with, and supports, the Service Owners and the Service Architects.
IEs are responsible for distributing knowledge and competence within their team in order to avoid becoming a single point of failure.
- Based on metrics, proactively suggest changes to the service in order to improve service quality (e.g. delivery, monitoring, performance and scalability)
- Gather and document non-functional requirements (e.g. availability, performance, security, legal compliance and backups)
- Define monitoring requirements needed to verify fulfillment of non-functional requirements
- Capacity planning, i.e. to estimate the infrastructure resources required over some future period of time
- Perform cost estimations of the service and for changes that could have an cost impact
- Perform risk assessments from an infrastructure point of view, for changes impacting the infrastructure
- Assist the Service Architect during design to ensure that the service is easy to operate (e.g. high level of automation, easy to monitor and detailed logs)
- Contribute to evaluation and selection of tools and vendors (e.g. deploy, configuration management, monitoring, and backup tools and IaaS and PaaS vendors)
- Automation of infrastructure provisioning and configuration (e.g. virtual machines, operating systems, network and firewalls)
- Design, implement and test the delivery pipeline
- Configure the monitoring tools with the required monitoring endpoints, thresholds and alerts
- Follow up on deviations in monitoring data according to the incident and problem management processes
- Create and maintain documentation of infrastructure architecture and configuration
- Create and maintain operational documentation (e.g. how to perform manual changes)
- Create reports on service metrics (e.g. performance, availability, cost)
- Create dashboards with metrics for the team and stakeholders
Requirements
- Good knowledge in DevOps / Terraform / Azure with at least 8 – 10 years of experience
- Having lead a team of at least 5 members
- Excellent mentor
- Good communication skills to communicate between SL and Scandinavian leadership
- Fantastic attitude, generally a guy who doesn’t bite
- Experience in agile development
- BSc or better in Computer Science, Information Technology or related
