Position Summary

We are currently recruiting for a Customer Business Manager for the Confectionery category within the Wholesale & Convenience Channel. This is a high profile role within the Confectionery Sales team, working with some high profile and exciting High Street and Travel accounts – the role is about delighting our customers and delivering exceptional results.

A day in the life of Customer Business Manager

Working as part of our Sales team, you will be responsible for the development, management and execution of the Confectionery plan within the Wholesale & Convenience channel. 

Responsibilities include:

  • You’ll be responsible for the management and growth of 3 high profile existing accounts, including full P&L accountability, forecast accuracy, pricing and deductions
  • Creating Joint Business Plans with the customers to deliver sustainable, profitable growth
  • You’ll be the face of the customer both internally and externally, building plans that are fit for purpose and working cross functionally to ensure smooth execution of an agreed plan
  • Manage the relationship between Nestlé and the existing customer base plus the development of key accounts that Nestlé currently do not trade with. These will be undertaken at both strategic and tactical level. 
  • Key outputs will be to deliver profitable volume and value growth and market share for Nestlé UK brands, accountability for the full P&L delivery for the defined portfolio of customers. 
  • Ongoing knowledge of competitor activity and market intelligence within the sector, and support with the development channel strategy to ensure we have the tools we need to win in this area now and in the future.
  • Part of this role will be focused on unlocking clearly defined new business opportunities 
  • Construct and maintain trading terms
  • Build and develop effective relationships through appropriate contact strategy
  • Cross functional working internally with key stakeholders
  • On-going promotion evaluation where relevant
  • Ensure day-to-day account issues are dealt with effectively and efficiently, and with a customer focus.
  • Provide insight to develop and evolve our strategy within the channel in order to enable us to accelerate growth               
  • Develop relationships with counterparts in other Nestlé Divisions to share learnings and drive efficiency for Trade Shows etc.      

What will make you successful

  • Commercial experience within a Sales role is essential, gained within the FMCG industry – preferably within Food categories 
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong financial and commercial acumen 
  • An understanding of supply chain and demand planning principles
  • Excellent Category Management skills
  • Highly numerate with good understanding of P&Ls
  • Ability to credibly communicate and influence using reliable data and facts
  • You’ll be able to demonstrate curiosity and an opportunistic mind-set, hold a proven track record of building relationships (both internally and externally) and influencing a wide range of stakeholders
  • An understanding of how to create joint value that delights customers and grows profits for both businesses
  • A positive, “can do” attitude
  • Consistent and unquestionable drive to deliver exceptional outcomes in our P&L
  • Strong time management, organisation and ability to prioritise
  • Strong negotiation skills and experience
  • The ability to learn quickly and pride yourself in owning your personal development journey
