Deputy Director, Graduate Programmes [LKCMedicine]

The Deputy Director, Graduate Programmes, is responsible for administering research and coursework graduate programmes at the Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine (LKCMedicine), Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. The job holder will also support the school’s development of continuous education and training (CET), and new graduate programmes. The Deputy Director reports to Director, Education Management and works closely with Director, PhD Programmes.

 

 

 

 

Responsibilities:

 

 

 

PhD programmes

 

 

 

  • Support Director, PhD programme in administering graduate research programmes including: admissions and assessments; curriculum development; outreach; student well-being; and graduation
  • Engage in strategic planning and review of the PhD programme ensuring relevance to academia/market/industry
  • Manage PhD admissions workflow through collaboration with NTU and internal stakeholders
  • Oversee PhD scholarships ensuring sufficient awards to align with enrolment targets

 

 

New programmes

 

 

  • Familiarization and Adoption of best practices for CET and graduate programmes (coursework and research)
  • Identify novel education gaps and opportunities (and relevant teaching faculty)
  • Engage with internal stakeholders to plan and develop budget estimates for new courses
  • Prepare course/degree proposal documentation for approval by School, University and Ministry (where applicable) and monitor approval timeline
  • Contribute to development of media strategy

 

 

Finance

 

  • Plan and monitor operating budget for Graduate Programmes
  • Manage scholarship budget
  • Oversee long-term budget planning for the unit
  • Have oversight of operating and accumulated surpluses of continuous education and training programmes

 

 

Requirements:

 

 

  • Relevant Bachelor’s Degree, Master’s preferred
  • Background in higher education and/or healthcare administration
  • Experience in strategic planning and management
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability in working with people from diverse background
  • Possess initiative, able to work as a team player

 

This is a 3 years contract appointment.
