Role Profile

The role is aligned to the Finance Centre of Excellence and reports to the Director, Taxation, Finance CoE. The position will have direct tax responsibility for a portfolio of the group’s entities, delivering corporate tax compliance, local tax reporting, supporting the global tax reporting process, and partnering with the business. The role will work closely with members of the Group Tax team, outsourced tax service providers, the financial controller community and business partners on delivering the goals of the tax function in the region.

 

Key Responsibilities

 The selected candidate will have ownership of:

  • Managing direct tax compliance and reporting responsibilities for assigned countries with respect to:
    • tax provisions for local entity financial statements,
    • tax returns,
    • tax payments, and
    • routine informational tax audits

These responsibilities are supported by outsourced tax service providers and involve working with multiple stakeholders to ensure that deadlines are met.

  • Supporting Group Tax Operations with internal tax reporting requirements including effective tax rate determinations, cash tax forecasts, and Group tax provisions by coordinating and consolidating financial data from Controllers and outsourced tax service providers.
  • Supporting internal withholding tax processes with respect to obtaining and applying correct international tax treaty rates on cross-border related party payments.
  • Supporting Group Tax Advisory and Transfer Pricing teams on ad-hoc tax related business queries and tax technical audits including:
    • Acting as the initial point of contact for local business partners on tax matters,
    • Identifying and escalating material local tax concerns and exposures to Group Tax,
    • Support for analyses and documentation of material tax positions for inclusion within Group and local entity tax computations and financial statements
  • Supporting local entity compliance with Group Transfer Pricing policies and procedures.
  • Monitoring the adequacy of Finance CoE Taxation reporting internal controls and ensuring that associated direct tax reporting processes and procedures comply with internal controls.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate should possess the following:

  • Chartered Accountant and/or certified tax agent or equivalent qualifications
  • At least 4 years of experience in a Big 4 direct tax consulting capacity
  • Tax experience in a multinational corporate tax environment would be highly regarded
  • A high degree of organization and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Subject Matter Expert knowledge of the interpretation and application of IAS 12 Income Taxes and related IAS 1 presentation standards, familiarity with other IFRS accounting standards and a basic working knowledge of ERP accounting systems.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability and desire to communicate, collaborate and co-ordinate with finance and non-finance colleagues.
