Bewerbungsfrist : 21.01.2022

Two PhD student positions (m/f/d, E13 TV-L, 65%)

on immune receptor complexes in plant immunity.

are available at the Centre for Plant Molecular Biology – ZMBP University of Tuebingen, Germany to be part of an innovative project to identify protein complexes and membrane organisation of plant cell surface immune receptors. This project is part of the SFB1101. We seek highly motivated candidates with a master in biochemistry or molecular biology.

Position 1

We are looking for an excellent candidate with knowledge in molecular biology and/or confocal or super resolution microscopy. The project will involve functional analysis of a potential nanodomain organizing factor, generation of constructs with innovative tags for super resolution microscopy and the analysis of the mobility, patterns and complexes of receptor molecules in plant membrane nanodomains. The microscopy part is supported by a central support Z project of the SFB including a postdoc experienced with high end microscopy techniques.

Position 2

We are looking for another excellent candidate with experience in molecular biology and biochemistry. The project will involve protein complex analyses, dynamics and functional analysis of receptor kinases.

Both candidates should work together to integrate the results of both projects.
For more details on the project background please check the following literature: Halter et al. Curr Biol. 2014, 24(2):134-43; Imkampe et al. Plant Cell 2017, 29(9):2285-2303, Schulze et al. 2021: https://doi.org/10.1101/2021.04.11.438637.

Applicants must hold a master degree in a relevant field (biochemistry, molecular biology). Candidates should be highly motivated individuals interested in molecular biology, plant pathology and microscopy. Previous work on plant/pathogen interactions is not required but advantageous. The successful candidates should be creative, willing to become independent researchers and also to work co-operatively within a team. Applicants must possess good communication skills and be fluent in both spoken and written English. Salary will be within the TV-L E13 65%. These positions will be available until end of 2025. The students will be integrated in the ZMBP graduate program.

Applicants should provide a CV, including the names and contact details of two referees, and a covering letter addressing their motivation for these projects.
Please send your applications until latest Jan. 21st, 2022 to: Dr. Birgit Kemmerling by email to birgit.kemmerling@zmbp.uni-tuebingen.de.
