JOB DESCRIPTION

Local Community Health Centres has played an increasingly central role in the development of the near healthcare system in Denmark since the first health reform in 2007. In the following 14 years more and more centers have been established with the purpose of hosting a package of services provided by regions and municipalities in an attempt to establish a coherent and near embracement of citizens in need of health care and preventive measures. However, a recent study concludes that the establishment and visualized outcome of the centers have been diverse and to some extent unsuccessful in meeting the individual patients need for safety and security, and coherence in the overall navigation of the course of treatment. Suggestions for improvements and solutions points to at least two areas of focus: 1) the patient journey perspective, and 2) the organizing and execution of the disciplinary work performed by the health care professionals, preferably in combination. This PhD project will take a starting point in both above mentioned focus areas using a co-design approach:

      • How can we design cohesive patient pathways across sectors and multiple actors?
      • How to empower patients and allow them to influence their own patient pathways
      • How to organize the disciplinary work performed by health care professionals to support these pathways

The PhD candidate are expected to contribute to unfolding and exploring this field as well as contributing in designing a sustainable Danish healthcare system that puts the patient first.

Candidates for the PhD scholarship are expected to have a relevant education with focus on sustainable design and co-design. Further, it is expected that the candidate has competences within:

      • Co-design of products, systems and organizations
      • Developing design games
      • Designing sustainable solutions
      • Ethnographic interviews at multiple sites
      • Analyze gathered empirical material from a socio-technical perspective

Knowledge about the Danish healthcare section is of outmost importance, and so are the ability to speak Danish at a proficient level, since studies are to be carried out with actors in the Danish healthcare system.

The applicant’s project description should be maximum 5 pages and consist of proposal for research question, theoretical approach, and empirical and methodological approach as well as an overall time plan.

The applicant should be able to start the PhD project at the latest December 15, 2021. Workplace is the Copenhagen campus.
