PhD Studentships in the School of Sport, Exercise and Health Sciences

The School of Sport, Exercise and Health Sciences is committed to undertaking initiatives which support under-represented groups to pursue educational and research opportunities across our disciplines.

Analysis has shown that only small numbers of UK BAME students are undertaking post graduate research degrees within the School. To take steps to address this structural inequality, School-funded studentships have been ring-fenced for UK applicants who identify as being from a Black, Asian or Minority Ethnic background* as part of our wider work to support underrepresented groups within our disciplines.

* The University is referring, at this stage of our race equity work, to Black groupings of ethnicities, Asian groupings, other groupings and mixed groupings, not to white racialised minority groups.

Applications are invited for fully funded studentships. The School’s research activity is organised within three themes – Lifestyle for Health & Wellbeing, Sport, Business & Society and Sport Performance (https://www.lboro.ac.uk/departments/ssehs/research/). We welcome research proposals relevant to our wide-ranging expertise in the following areas:

• Sport management

Additional Funding Information 

The studentship is for 3 years and provides a tax-free stipend of £16,062 per annum for the duration of the studentship plus tuition fees at the UK rate. Due to funding restrictions, the studentship is only open to UK students.
