This project is funded by NIH R01 GM143302 and will be advised by Ian Schneider, Associate Professor in Chemical and Biological Engineering. The researcher will use siRNA and CRISPR to generate knock-downs and knock-outs of actin regulatory proteins in skin epithelial, mesenchymal and amoeboid model cell systems. The researcher will characterize F-actin regulatory protein localization, cytoskeletal structure and cell migration via live cell microscopy and immunofluorescence and mRNA levels and expression of F-actin regulatory proteins using qPCR and western blotting. The researcher will be expected to communicate results in both written and oral presentations.
