Job Overview

Postdoctoral Research Fellow

Postdoctoral Research Associate, Imaging Network, University of Münster (Germany) - FocalPlane

About the opportunity

The Discipline of Work and Organisational Studies (WOS) and the Body Heart and Mind (BHM) in Business Research Group work at the cutting edge of research in mental health and well-being at work. WOS and the BHM research group have research strengths in the areas of organisational Behaviour, Leadership, Human Resource Management and Industrial Relations, among other areas.

The Discipline of Work and Organisational Studies at the University of Sydney offers an exciting opportunity for two highly motivated postdoctoral researchers to work on a project to develop evidence-based practices to help organisations redesign work to improve mental health. You will work with a team of researchers to

  • develop deeper understanding of how work design affects employee outcomes in the Health Care and Social Assistance (H&SA) industry in NSW
  • conduct interviews with leaders and key employees, developing surveys to capture workers’ experiences, using the SMART work design model as our research lens
  • work with the research team and based on the insights and best practices that result from this initial analysis, to assist with co-creating practical interventions that assist employees and leaders to jointly optimise work design. This will be used to provide examples of how work redesign can improve well-being outcomes for employees that we can build on, to facilitate change across the industry.

The project is conducted in partnership with The Centre for Transformative Work Design (CTWD) at Curtin University and Monash University and is funded by an industry grant from ICare.

We are seeking to appoint two part time postdoctoral researchers with expertise in related areas such as organisational behaviour, organisational psychology, project management, qualitative and quantitative research methods, and statistical analysis skills. Familiarity with work design and well-being research is not essential; but will be an advantage. Successful candidates will work closely with a multidisciplinary team of leading researchers in Australia.

About you

We are looking for two Postdoctoral Research Fellows who possess:

  • a completed PhD in organisational behaviour, organisational psychology or related field
  • evidence of ability to conduct high-quality research
  • good quantitative data management and statistical (ideally multilevel) analysis skills
  • an emerging track record of academic publications in high quality refereed journals
  • an ability to work in a collaborative team environment
  • excellent communication skills
  • excellent project management / partner engagement and stakeholder management skills.
