POSITION DESCRIPTION

The Department of Animal Science at the University of California, Davis invites applications for a Postdoctoral Researcher in Gene Editing in Livestock Species.POSITION DESCRIPTION:A full-time position starting January 1, 2022 is available in the laboratory of Dr. Alison Van Eenennaam in the Department of Animal Science within the College of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences at the University of California, Davis. The position will involve being part of an interdisciplinary team working on developing technologies for gene editing in livestock species, genetic/genomic approaches for gene target identification, application of gene editing to improving food animal production, and working to ensure a fit-for-purpose regulatory landscape and societal acceptance for genome edited food animals.Basic qualifications (required at time of application)

Applicants must have a Ph.D. in animal reproduction, cell biology, developmental biology, molecular biology, biochemistry, animal science, veterinary science or a related field. In addition, applicants must have a proven track record of productivity with at least one first author publication in a peer-reviewed journal. Moreover, applicants will be proficient in one or more of the following areas: mammalian embryo production and culture, CRISPR-based genome engineering in mammalian cells, adeno-associated virus expression systems, as well as good experimental skills in molecular biology. They will also be proficient in the use of DNA-editing and sequence analysis software; Microsoft Office (i.e. Excel, PowerPoint, and Word); and Graphpad Prism or R. Most importantly, the applicant will be motivated to independently pursue and drive their project.

SALARY RANGE: $54,540-$65,292 [100% annual], commensurate with qualifications and experience.

POSITION AVAILABLE/CLOSING DATE: For full consideration applications should be received by October 31, 2021.

TERM OF APPOINTMENT: This one-year appointment is based on the needs of the research project. Appointment may be extended upon satisfactory performance.
