Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:
The Student Counseling Services at Iowa State University is pleased to offer a Post-Doctoral Fellowship (post-doc) position for the 2022-2023 academic year. SCS is within the Division of Student Affairs. This is a 12-month, 2000-hour, full-time position with a preferred start date of August 1, 2022.
This position affords the post-doc the opportunity to work in a dynamic university counseling center that serves a diverse undergraduate and graduate student body. Under the supervision of a licensed psychologist, the post-doc will provide individual, couples, and group therapy from a short-term therapy model, conduct intake evaluations, crisis assessment and intervention, and provide outreach programs and consultation to the campus community. There are also opportunities for supervision of trainees from a doctoral program in counseling psychology and to pursue concentration areas (for a semester or for the year). Potential concentration areas include the following: Diversity, Eating Disorders, Training & Supervision, Grief & Loss, Group Therapy, Sport Psychology, and Trauma Recovery.
The post-doc will attend regularly scheduled team meetings for case disposition and supervision as well as weekly staff meetings and trainings. The post-doc will receive a minimum of 1.5 hours of face-to-face weekly supervision from a licensed psychologist. Also, the post-doc will attend weekly training seminars that include professional development topics, supervision of supervision, and trainings on various clinical issues. Other interests and areas for training during the post-doctoral fellowship are negotiable with the SCS Training Director.
Additional information:
The salary is $49,440 for the 12-month appointment. University benefits include health and dental insurance, 24 vacation and 18 sick days, and 5 days of professional leave. The post-doc will work alongside senior staff and will have their own furnished counseling office that is equipped with a computer, phone, and video recording system.

Required Minimum Qualifications:
Candidates must have completed the requirements for a doctoral degree in Counseling or Clinical Psychology and an APA-accredited doctoral internship by the position start date.
Preferred Qualifications:
Candidates should be knowledgeable of college student development, interested in working with a diverse university population, and experience with crisis assessment and intervention. Strong candidates will also have experience with intakes/triage, providing clinical supervision, and facilitated group therapy or workshops.
