Principal Software Engineer

Overview:

As a Software Engineer, you will be responsible for building the next generation tools to help Nielsen’s Total Audience Measurement (TAM).

We are looking for a Core Java developer with AWS Hadoop/Spark resources. Mastery of object-oriented design principles. Must have big data using nosql like mongodb or Spark and use the applications to build an immutable infrastructure in the AWS .
This is the partially REMOTE position. 

Job Responsibilities
Understand the enterprise architecture within the context of existing platform services and strategic direction. 
Implement end-to-end solutions with sound technical architecture in Big Data framework. 
Perform hands-on technology spikes following standard architecture, design patterns and company policies, standards and best practices. 
Develop design specifications, continuous build and deployment strategy to drive Agile methodology. 
Develop software code which is scalable, reusable, cost-effective and maintainable.
Coach and mentor junior developers on design and technical issues, and support development of systems where needed. 
Work with the geographically distributed teams engaged in the projects. 

Tech Stack Requirements: Java, Spring Framework, Spring Boot, Restful Web Services, React and\or other JS frameworks, RDBMS (such as Postgres and/or Oracle / Sybase), NoSql database like Mongo DB, Cloud (preferably AWS), Docker, Kubernetes, Scala, Hadoop, Spark, Airflow, Python, Linux / Unix, Shell scripting, GitLab, Jenkins

Required Skills: 
3+  years of experience in Java, Spring Framework \ Spring Boot, Microservices, RDBMS SQL (such as Postgres and/or Oracle).
2+  years of Big Data principles and understanding of Hadoop, Spark, etc.
Knowledge in Cloud technologies, AWS preferred; building applications in the AWS Cloud with automation technologies like Terraform or Ansible or Cloud Formation. 
Demonstrated knowledge of software development technology, principles, methods, tools, and practices and industry standards and trends; and current web and database technologies.
Demonstrated effective analytical, oral and written communication, strategic problem-solving and solution-finding skills.
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering (any), or related (foreign equivalent degree acceptable), plus 5 years of experience in the job offered or 5 years of progressively-responsible post-baccalaureate experience as a professional developer in information technology solutions development, or related. Having studied statistical methods and operation research is a plus
