At the University of Wismar, Faculty of Economics, the following professorship is to be filled for an unlimited period as soon as possible:

Professorship W2  “Business Informatics / Digital Infrastructure”

We are looking for a committed and innovative personality with a relevant university degree and pedagogical aptitude. You have extensive knowledge in the areas of development and management of sustainable and solution-oriented IT infrastructures and have proven your special ability to do scientific work through a doctorate. Evidence must be provided of at least five years of professional practice, of which at least three years have been spent outside of the university sector.

We are looking for applicants with proven scientific qualifications and practical experience with distributed systems in a business environment, in particular the use of cloud computing and virtualization technologies for service-oriented platforms, taking data security and data protection into account. Detailed knowledge of various operating systems and knowledge of mobile computing or the Internet of Things (IoT) ideally round off the profile.

Applicants must be willing to represent the subjects of digital infrastructure and cloud computing both for the business environment and for data science applications in the bachelor’s and master’s degree in business informatics.

In addition to teaching in this subject area, the area of ​​responsibility includes the supervision of practice-oriented projects and the assumption of courses in basic subjects. The willingness to work in academic self-administration is required. There is also the opportunity to work in distance learning and in the new innovation center for digitization at Wismar University.

The chairperson of the appointment committee,  Prof. Dr. Steffan ( ruediger.steffan@hs-wismar.de ). The professorship is filled as a civil servant or as an employee. The probationary period is 2 years. With regard to the general employment requirements, reference is made to § 58 LHG M-V.
