The company seeks for a suitable candidate to fill the position of Executive – Project Accountant. The position will be on fixed term contract and will be travelling to Ranala and Avissawella based on business requirements.

The selected candidates will be responsible for:

  • Assisting the Company and other stakeholder with the overall construction project accounting from the beginning to the end by taking ownership as a Project Accountant
  • Maintain project-related records, including contracts with approved Bill of Quantity
  • Check insurance policies obtained by contractors related to the Projects
  • Overseeing project records and contracts to ensure contract terms are adhered to
  • Bank Guarantees should be collected as required and specified in the agreement (Advance Bank Guarantees & Performance Bank Guarantees)
  • Letter of Credit terms should be checked against the signed contract prior to the finalization of LC and Imports should be checked against the LC terms prior making payments to the foreign suppliers
  • Maintain the billing folders for all projects, with all the appropriate documents, including expenses, consultant invoices, and monthly invoices, in accordance with standard procedures
  • Check and verify all payment including progress payments with the contract terms and obtain required internal approval for payments
  • Periodical Reporting (Daily, Weekly, Monthly & Quarterly) to the Management
  • Keep a track on drawdowns with the bank, funding positions and minimizing the interest cost of the company
  • Close out project accounts upon project completion
  • Create and submit government reports and tax returns related to projects
  • Compile information for internal and external auditors, as required
  • Perform additional assignments, as directed by the Accounting Supervisor

Required qualifications and skills:

  • Over 2 – 3 years’ experience in Construction Project Accounting
  • A thorough knowledge of standard contract terms and how they are applied in the billing process
  • Knowledgeable with import terms, related documents and payment terms
  • Knowledge of the project structure in a client/consultant business environment
  • Computer literate with sound knowledge in Microsoft Office
  • Knowledge in ERP will be an added advantage
  • Ability to work well with others to meet tight deadline in dynamic environment
  • Good written and verbal communication skills and strong organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative, set priorities and see projects through to completion
