Research Engineer/Fellow ((ICT|LPCNet) IM
As a University of Applied Learning, SIT works closely with industry in our research pursuits.
The primary responsibility of this role is to deliver industry innovation research in a project project that investigates improvements to the LPCNet speech algorithm (released by Google) and develop prototype speech compression code based upon this.
Key Responsibilities:
· Participate in and manage the research project with Principal Investigator (PI), Co-PI and the research team members to ensure all project deliverables are met.
· Undertake these responsibilities in the project:
1. Familiarise with LPCNet baseline code, extending this task-by-task under supervision.
2. Undertake incremental testing of the modified code base against objectives, maintaining full code backup. Documenting all changes, all test runs, and system test results.
3. Constructing a testing framework, then supervising undergraduate students to assist with tests, or run them yourself. This includes objective & subjective tests, including two large-scale testing runs with volunteer participants (roughly one each year).
4. Documenting everything and assisting with either IP disclosure report and/or academic paper writing.
5. Working with any assigned undergraduate project students to deliver a good learning experience for them, as well as having the main responsibility for successful task completion on this project.
6. Reporting to the PI, Co-PI and collaborators, including (at times) to the company that is involved in the project
Job Requirements:
· Have a PhD or Masters + relevant experience
· A demonstrated understanding of speech and signal processing basics and ML (e.g. courses taken, papers published, patents applied for).
· A track record of prior research with industrial relevance.
· The research will be undertaken on the SIT@NYP campus in Ang Mo Kio.
