A Research Fellow position is available in the laboratory of Prof Lars Nordenskiöld at the School of Biological Sciences, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. The successful candidate will work on the project “Revealing Mechanisms of Telomere Maintenance by Establishing Telomeric Chromatin Structure and its Interactions with Telomere Binding Factors.” We are now pursuing the structure and interaction of telomere binding proteins involved in telomere maintenance and the incoming staff will make pivotal contributions in this regard. The position provides an excellent opportunity for an aspiring individual to experience exciting innovative chromatin research and be involved in Cryo-EM structure determination that aims to unravel the mystery of chromatin organization at the telomere.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Express and purify recombinant proteins in E.coli

  • Large-scale expression and purification of plasmids in E.coli

  • Nucleosome reconstitution (we have a robust protocol, prior experience is not necessary)

  • Carry out basic biochemistry assays, gel shift assays etc

  • Telomeric chromatin-chromatin complex sample preparation and characterization

  • Experienced or proficient staff will have the opportunity to assist/prepare samples for Cryo-EM and be involved in subsequent data collection and processing

  • Purchase of lab consumables

Job Requirements:

  • PhD in a relevant field

  • Prior lab experience in cloning, E.coli transformation

  • Experienced in basic biochemistry assays, gel shift assays

  • Prior experience in biophysical techniques is desirable, not essential
