Research Fellow in HCI: Interactive Visualisation of IoT Data for Sustainability

University College London - Free-Apply.com

We are recruiting a Research Fellow to work on a project with Dr Enrico Costanza on Interactive Visualisation of IoT Data for Sustainability. We are looking for a talented, HCI or Ubicomp researcher to join our team at the UCL Interaction Centre (UCLIC) at University College London. You will contribute to a new exciting multi-disciplinary project titled “Beyond Individual Persuasion: Towards a Paradigm Shift in Interactive Visualisation and Sensing for Environmental Change” funded by the UKRI Digital Economy Theme.

The role will involve the user-centred design, prototyping and field evaluation of new interactive A-IoT technology. You will lead on, or take part in, designing, running and analysing participatory design workshops and hackathons, developing software prototypes (using web technologies such as HTML5, d3.js and node.js), and evaluating them through field trials. The successful candidate will become part of an internationally renowned and multi-disciplinary team across the UCL Interaction Centre (where you will be based), UCL Anthropology and the UCL Energy Institute.

Applicants must have obtained a PhD (or be in submission of a PhD) in a relevant subject (e.g. Human-Computer Interaction), or possess equivalent professional qualifications or experience. The successful candidate will be proficient in one of user-centred design, prototyping or field evaluation of new technology, and ideally have some experience in the other areas. A track record of publication at international leading venues (e.g. ACM CHI, IMWUT, CSCW, TOCHI) and experience with computer programming are essential.
The post-doctoral researcher position is for 24 months initially, starting on the 1st November 2021, or as soon as possible thereafter.

For more information and how to apply, please go to the UCL Job advert (Reference 1879143). The deadline to apply is Fri 22 October at midnight. Interview dates are TBC.

If you wish to discuss the position informally or if you have any questions about the position, please contact Dr Enrico Costanza.

Enquiries about the application process can be made to Louise Gaynor.
