Restaurant Manager Job Description & How to Hire One

Objectives of this Role:

  • Oversee the seamless daily operations of The Cliff Weligama.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and professional restaurant culture.
  • Create efficient and effective work schedules that meet the needs of the restaurant and its staff.
  • Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and hygiene regulations.
  • Hire, train, and develop staff to meet and exceed the restaurant’s high standards.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with guests, enhancing their dining experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Operations Management: Oversee the daily operations to ensure smooth running and exceptional service delivery.
  • Team Leadership: Supervise and motivate kitchen and front-of-house staff, providing ongoing feedback and support.
  • Financial Oversight: Monitor and report on financial performance, including revenue and costs.
  • Customer Interaction: Engage with guests to ensure their satisfaction and handle any issues with professionalism.
  • Inventory Management: Organize and maintain restaurant supplies, ensuring timely stock replenishment.
  • Payroll Management: Oversee the preparation and distribution of payroll on a weekly and monthly basis.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in a managerial role within the hospitality industry.
  • Demonstrated excellence in customer service and relationship-building.
  • Strong financial acumen and understanding of restaurant management software.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of food and beverage trends, particularly in global cuisine using locally sourced ingredients.
