Senior Assistant Manager, Research Support Office

AYS Research Support - Andrew Young School of Policy Studies

The Senior Assistant Manager, Research Support Office is responsible to maintain NTU position as a research intensive leading university, well organized research related resources will need to be made readily available to the research community to maximize resources effectiveness and increase productivity.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the Research Information SystEm (RISE) users’ issues and ensure deployment of fixes, enhancements or upgrades are well tested and carried out in a timely manner by vendor.
  • Liaise with IT and vendor in application testing, supporting application patches and upgrade
  • Monitor and provide update and information to users on the progress of outstanding issues.
  • Assist in conducting training and providing ad-hoc user support, especially during submissions’ peak period or when major enhancements are deployed in the system.
  • Through supporting the system, identify gaps in research related guidelines, SOPs and work with relevant departments to close the identified gaps. Updated guidelines, SOPs and policies to be made available for NTU community’s reference
  • Conduct user requirement analysis for the process gaps, evaluate potential solutions and make recommendation on enhancements to the system to resolve business problems
  • Maintaining the day to day running of NTU research system and users access for funders’ systems such as Integrated Grant Management System (IGMS) and iGrants. Enhance the process to track user access to cater to large number of users, as funder opens the system to more users to assist PI in system related submission

 

Requirements

  • Degree in Information Technology, Business IT, or equivalent field from recognised university
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant working experience as Business Analyst, or role with relevant job scope
  • Prior working experience in implementing, managing, or supporting IT applications
  • Working experience in end-user environment, especially research / academic institution will be an added advantage
  • Certification such as CBAP, PMI-PBA or Certified ScrumMaster (CSM) will be an added advantage
  • Preference will be given to candidates who have held administrative positions in a central office within a large organisation and / or possess IT or project management experience
  • Developed business analyst skills, including abilities to bridge complex requirements to technical implementation, apply analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Skills and ability to document the business needs, present technical information in a clear and palatable way
  • Cross-platform experience and the expertise to identify potential integration / application issues
  • Good understanding of project management methodology and software development life cycle (SDLC)
  • Good understanding of finance and HR related processes, such as budgeting, procurement, expenditure, manpower hiring, contract management will be an advantage
  • Strong communication, consultation, negotiation and advocacy skills at technical and business level
  • Good planning and organizing skills to ensure system issues, enhancements and upgrades are deployed according to the plan
  • Able to work with different group of stakeholders
  • Able to work independently and as a team member
  • Good command of the English language
  • Possess initiative, drive and sense of responsibility
