Senior Lecturer Medical/Clinical Healthcare Education

About You 

We seek enthusiastic and friendly professionals with excellent communication and interpersonal skills coupled with a commitment to providing an excellent student experience in multiprofessional medical / clinical health professions education.

You should ideally be a healthcare professional or a medical/clinical educationalist, with a relevant background and experience of teaching and supporting students in the clinical workplace environment and/or in the field of clinical/medical educator development. Experience contributing to curriculum design, development, delivery, assessment and enhancement of modules and programmes in this specialist field is desirable. Fellow / Senior Fellow / Principle Fellow status with Academy HE is ideal. Experience of working in Higher Education is desirable although not essential as we provide mentorship for new staff.

You will enrich our student experience through your expertise and subject knowledge as evidenced through your qualifications and professional experience. In return, you will join a forward thinking and dynamic team that pushes the boundaries of curriculum development within the Medical School.

About the role 

This post is to support the expansion and development of Edge Hill University’s Medical School. Our students are from a diverse range of professional backgrounds. You will further enhance and grow our highly successful and rapidly expanding multiprofessional health professions education provision.

We work closely with many stakeholders in NHS organisations and with a variety of Royal Colleges. Our staff are well networked, which is essential for ensuring curricula are current and appropriate. We have a strong involvement with our service users and carers council and they provide excellent support to our recruitment, curriculum design and delivery.

You will join a growing team of colleagues from a variety of professions, largely from the medical, nursing and allied health professions and clinical/medical educationalists. You will be expected to teach, assess and engage in student support for a variety of modules and programmes in our extensive postgraduate medical/clinical educator development portfolio (dependent on subject expertise) and must be able to supervise dissertation/advanced practice projects in the academic discipline of health professions education. Additionally, you will be expected to contribute to programme development/enhancement and develop and deliver modules in your sphere of educational and/or clinical expertise. Evidence of a strong or developing research profile is essential for this role.
