Senior Research Fellow (Engineering/Business)

The Energy Research Institute @ NTU (ERI@N​) invites applications for the position of Senior Research Fellow.

Established in 2010, the Energy Research Institute @ NTU (ERI@N) distinguishes itself through research excellence directed towards outcomes of industry relevance, with focus on systems-level research for tropical megacities. The Institute integrates research across NTU in the context of the energy challenge, and then helps translate outcomes into industry and practice. The Institute’s research focuses on a host of Interdisciplinary Research Programmes, Flagship Programmes, Consortium Platforms and an Accelerator Programme that covers the energy value chain from generation to innovative end-use solutions, motivated by industrialisation and deployment.

Key Responsibilities: 

• Monitor and guide the progress of other team members in the work package
• Perform literature review and survey to understand the developments and trends of energy imports (both existing and potential) and clean and renewable energy projects
• Understand existing routes of energy imports into Singapore for benchmarking purpose in the study
• Responsible for building the model and evaluate the costs, effectiveness, efficiency, environmental impact of different pathways of energy imports and technologies into Singapore
• Responsible for performing the analysis and provide insights to the analysis
• Prepare drafts of presentation slides, and progress reports to the management teams, funding agencies and stakeholders
• Monitor and keep up to date the latest technology and trend in the energy imports to Singapore
• Any other tasks as deemed necessary by the reporting officer and management

Job Requirements:

• Doctorate degree in Engineering or Business field with minimum six (06) years of working experience
• Proficiency in TIMES (The Integrated MARKAL-EFOM System), UniSim Design, Aspen Hysys, Aspen Plus or other equivalent tools are desired
• Knowledgeable in the global developments of clean and alternative energy technologies/solutions
• Specialized domain knowledge in power grid, hydrogen or capture carbon and utilization is strongly desired
• Proficiency in MS Office (Powerpoint, Words, Excel etc.), web design editing tools and digital social media marketing
• Able to work as a team as well as independently, pro-active and result driven
• Good interpersonal skills and seek to contribute actively to the team
• Excellent teamwork awareness and cohesive team player
