Summary

As a Senior Software Quality Assurance Engineer, you will be responsible for tasks ranging from requirements planning, to Software testing as well as reporting to ensure that design specifications requirements of the developed and client-provided software products are met and that the quality is within total quality management limits and standards. In this role you will also be responsible for reviewing requirements and designs and to create, edit, and clarify test plans & cases with software project teams. You will also provide work direction, coordination, and leadership for projects, as appropriate.

The SQA team(s) specifically are responsible for planning, reviewing, testing and validation of a suite of applications across several product areas. The SQA Engineer will

  • Perform root cause analysis on discrepancies or defects by reviewing the development code, determine and/or categorize the root cause issues and make recommendations on or present options for how to handle the issue or discrepancy.

  • Interact with developers and end users to develop and execute test strategies for testing of highly complex, high volume web testing initiatives. Participate in requirements and design review meetings, actively representing SQA.
  • Design and write tests and test scripts utilizing complex SQL program data comparisons while designing complex business test cases for validation of reporting and end-user data access.
  • Create, edit and update test plans and test cases ensuring complete test coverage, full test documentation for all code to be tested, and appropriate use of test methodology. Create trace matrices and/or flow graphs to support test plan and test cases.
  • Validate test data and results by developing appropriate SQL queries and application utilities.
  • Test software releases against requirements or stories utilizing appropriate testing techniques.
  • Document, escalate and follow up on defects per standard processes utilizing ClearQuest, VersionOne or Quality Center as appropriate.
  • Perform SQA tasks as part of an Agile development team by communicating frequently and clearly with team members on product issues, and testing to products with high quality.
  • Develop, write and execute test plans and scripts for identifying and tracking defects and fixes in product development, software application development, information systems, and operations systems.

Required Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or Business and/or equivalent education and experience
  • Five or more years of experience in software quality assurance testing
  • Proficient with SQL, HTML, XML and client server/ complex systems experience

Desired Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Professional Certification such as ISTQB, CSTE, CASQ, CAST, CSBA, CSPE

  • HP Quality Center experience
  • Automation experience (ie: Selenium, Gauge) and some Java development experience highly preferred
  • Clearquest Defect Tracking System experience
  • Experience with n-tier Java enterprise systems
  • Project leadership experience in areas of forecasting effort, resource needs, scheduling effort and resources, reporting status and adjusting schedules and forecasts is preferred
  • Experience with requirement and design meetings and reviews
  • Security and vulnerability testing experience
