Specialist, Data Scientist – Jobs at edotco Group Sdn Bhd – Kuala Lumpur (KUL) – Malaysia

Job Purpose

The data scientist will be part of edotco’s Business Analytics & Data team which serves as the Centre of Excellence for organisation-wide reporting, analysis, and advanced analytics
Key responsibilities include the development of dashboards, insights, use cases, and predictive/prescriptive analytical models or solutions to support core business functions such as finance, engineering, and operations

Key Accountabilities

• Serve as a key member of the COE and provides strategic, and organisation-wide analysis and reports
• Perform data wrangling and exploratory analysis on big data (internal systems & external sources) 
• Perform workflow automation and, data pipeline design and implementation
• Solve business problems through analytics, with the ability to directly engage stakeholders, articulate methodologies, and findings, and support desired business outcomes. Solutions are geared towards finance, commercial, planning, and operational excellence
• Create predictive and prescriptive models or solutions to support key decision making and project goals
• To support the career and technical development of other team members and to assist with code review, providing technical and subject matter expertise
• To lead cross-functional, cross-NTC problem solving discussion and provide end-to-end solutioning. To take ownership of the analytics solution and act as a subject matter expert for domain

Working Relationship

Internal

• Engagement in edotco group and across NTC from across business function up to Group / NTC Directors
• For problem identification and solving, alignment of deliverables and presentation of the output
• For identification of current data sources, systems, platforms, processes, and models already deployed.

External

• Engage other data professionals as part of the edotco and Axiata Analytics community
• This is the continuous knowledge sharing and gathers new information on new ways of working and new tools to help enrich the edotco Analytics capabilities
• Engage with vendors and partners
• To assist in ensuring that vendors meet delivery obligations for analytics projects or support.
• Identify and run Proof of Concepts (POC) on new tools, platforms, or datasets for edotco Analytics to be considered for adoption

Experience & Qualifications

• BSc in mathematics, statistics, computer science or equivalent 
• Minimum 7 years of relevant experience in data analytics / data science with a proven track record and results
• Experience in finance, telecommunications, operations, or location-based analytics is preferred 
• Knowledge in programming languages such as Python, R, and SQL is required
• Strong visualisation techniques using tools such as MS Power BI and Tableau
• Knowledge in the use of modelling, machine learning, deep learning in a cloud environment
• Fluent in verbal and written communication with the ability to articulate data science/analytics to business stakeholders
• Demonstrate ability to quickly understand new concepts and to come up with original solutions to issues
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally (minimal)
