Your Background & Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field.
  • Minimum 2 years of work related to communications in a development organization.
  • Proven experience in managing social media platforms and creating engaging content.
  • Competence in graphic design and basic video editing; proficiency in relevant software.
  • Strong writing and storytelling skills, with the ability to translate complex project activities into compelling narratives.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Fluency in English; proficiency in local languages is a plus.
  • Must demonstrate valid proof of unrestricted work authorization in Sri Lanka.

Your Daily Tasks

  • Daily management of IREX Sri Lanka’s social media accounts.
  • Creation and timely posting of engaging content, including posts and short videos.
  • Monitoring social media trends and analytics to optimize engagement.
  • Designing visually appealing posts and materials for social media and other communication platforms.
  • Developing short videos to highlight project activities and outcomes.
  • Employing basic graphic design and video editing skills to enhance content quality.
  • Implementing the overall communications strategy for the program.
  • Identifying and crafting success stories from project activities.
  • Collaborating with the program team to develop communications material that effectively conveys the impact and outcomes of projects.
  • Working closely with the program team to ensure alignment of communications with project objectives.
  • Providing support in organizing and documenting project events and activities.
  • Assisting in the preparation of reports, presentations, and other communication materials as required.
  • Research potential communication target groups, effective communication channels and develop, update, and maintain a media contacts database.
  • Attend internal and external program events and facilitate updates and messaging on these as required.
  • Maintain strong ties with the Sri Lankan Media Community.
  • Maintain a database of media contacts.
  • Ensure consistency and compliance with the donor and IREX brand guidelines across the program.
  • Monitor the program communications budget.
  • Provide guidance on activities that have an outward facing component and require support on audience engagement, search engine optimization and dissemination.
  • Provide training on communications, media advocacy, and digital media platforms when required
